August - The Seasonal Postcards Vol. 01
Hello from Dunnottar Castle; Key takeaways from the book "The Shallows"
I was quite ambitious when I planned a monthly newsletter, completely forgetting that I now have a newborn who doesn't follow my schedule :) Nevertheless, it's here—much later than anticipated and not quite as I imagined, much simpler (and shorter) … I'm convinced that's a good thing! Now, before August comes to a close, here's my digital postcard to you from me, sent from the scenic place in Scotland—the Dunnottar Castle.
The scenery at Dunnottar Castle is spectacular- the views out to the sea, the cliff edge where the land, quite literally, ends. The castle, its rich history - all feels surreal and magnificent to see for yourself! See the full story and fun facts about the castle (+ more pictures) via button below!
Is the Internet making us stupid? A good question asked by Nicholas Carr in his book “The Shallows”. I feel the need to re-read this book every season to remind myself on the influence the web has on our brains. I saved some of the key highlights from the book in a post, click the button below to read it.
Next month, September, looks very promising and busy for me. With family events on the horizon, I hope to take it easy in order to create positive memories and avoid getting overwhelmed. I'm very excited to share the postcard from a uniquely stunning place next month, as September unfolds!
How is your August going so far? Have you ever visited Dunnottar Castle? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the influence of the internet and whether or not it makes us, as a collective, less intelligent.
“See” you soon,
Ksenia
I suppose there’s always both sides. The internet is great for numbing out brains with endless STUFF. But it’s also superb for sharing information, connecting minds, providing inspiration, helping the world feel smaller, making education more accessible to those in far flung places (I do LOVE an online course!) So, on the whole, I think it adds more than it subtracts.
